March marked just over three years since I brought Belle home! Even three years on I can still remember the horror of the horse shopping experience – it’s potentially the worst part of owning a horse. It’s not like other, nicer kinds of shopping, like buying clothes. Your new top is unlikely to turn out to be some sort of psycho in disguise that tries to kill you as soon as you get it home.

We headed off to Offchurch Bury today for our first One Day Event of the 2019 season – starting with the same event that we finished with last season (and, you may remember, that we actually ended up doing pretty well in!), with no aims other than hopefully having a confidence-boosting run to start the year. February Round-Up

February Round-Up

I’m planning on writing a round-up every month on the blog, so at the end of the year I can look back and see how good (or otherwise!) our year has been. I’ve missed January, I know,  but that was essentially training, training, training, one fabulous Team Quest dressage result of 67.88% and one less fabulous BRC Area 5 Points showjumping competition at Moreton Morrell, where I rode like a wally and Bells totally clammed up on me in the tiny arena and we had two poles and no team placing. And given that it’s 10th March, I’m a bit late on February too, but never mind!

Winter goals – better late than never!

It’s that time of year again where I question whether being a horse owner is really for me – by the time I get to the yard in the evening it’s pitch black, and it’s suddenly got freezing cold. The fingertips of my winter riding gloves have more holes in (tragic! I’ve already stitched them up twice!) and I’m struggling to find the motivation to ride after work.
